Summer festival on tap at Concordia Lutheran Ministries

The 142nd annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Summer Festival will be from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lund Care Center backyard, 134 Marwood Road, Jefferson.

The event is open to the public and admission and parking are free. The Pittsburgh Doo Wop Big Band will be featured at 1:30 and there will be a car cruise, picnic-themed food, activities and a fishing derby for children 12 and younger. Food booths will accept cash only. The Rev. Edward Grimenstein, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeville, will be the featured speaker at 4 p.m. worship service.

Vandergrift Artfest set Sunday

The annual Vandergrift Artfest will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday on Grant and Columbia avenues in the borough.

The theme will be “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.” There will be over 100 artists and crafters, food trucks, a basket raffle , entertainment and children’s activities. Free shuttle service will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from the Big Lots parking lot in Allegheny Township.

Dynamic Community Foundation plans golf outing

A golf outing to benefit Dynamic Community Foundation will be Aug. 26 at Birdsfoot Golf Club, 225 Furnace Road, South Buffalo.

Check-in will be at 1 p.m. and the four-man scramble will tee off at 2. Cost is $90 if paid by Tuesday and will be $100 after that date and includes 18 holes of golf, hot dogs, beverages and dinner by Fat N Nat.

The Chalk Art Celebration planned for today and Saturday in Freeport is canceled due to the hot weather today and forecasted rain on Saturday.

Planners hope to reschedule the event.

Today and Saturday: An indoor/outdoor rummage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John School, 668 S. Clearfield Road, Fenelton. Food will sold and proceeds will benefit the charities supported by the St. Francis Parish Marian Guild.

Sunday: A roast beef dinner will be from 3 to 7 p.m. or until sold out at Fawn Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, 497 Lardintown Road. Menu: beef, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, roll, dessert and beverage, $15. Dine in and takeout.

A $20 per vehicle fee will benefit the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.
